Awards of Excellence recognize leaders in South Dundas’ business community

During the South Dundas Council Community Breakfast, the inaugural Awards of Excellence were presented to six deserving business leaders. The awards aim to recognize the success and dedication of local individuals and businesses who call South Dundas home.

The 2019 recipients were:

Business of the Year Award

Agriculture Leadership Award
Nick Thurler, Thurler Farms Inc.

Community Builder Award
100 Women Who Care About South Dundas

New Business Award
StoneCropAcres Winery & Vineyard

Tourism Award
Barbara Rabideau, Galop Canal Bluegrass Festival

Young Professional Award
Cole Veinotte, Jade Transportation

“Here in South Dundas we have a great community of successful people and businesses. It’s important that we take the time to recognize the people who are working to make South Dundas a vibrant business community,” said Mayor Steven Byvelds. “I would like to congratulate each of the award recipients and the other nominees, and I look forward celebrating more local businesses and people in the future.”

The Awards of Excellence will re-open for nominations in 2020.

New Business Award: Stone Crop Acres Councillor Lloyd Wells, Norene Hyatt-Gervais and Marc Gervais.

Tourism Award: Barbara Rabideau and Councillor Don Lewis.

Young Professional Award: Cole Veinotte Cole Veinotte and Mayor Steven Byvelds.

Business of the Year: Ross Video Ltd. David Ross and Mayor Steven Byvelds.

Agriculture Leadership Award: Nick Thurler, Thurler Farms Inc. Councillor Archie Mellan, Lynn Thurler and Robert Thurler.

Community Builder Award: 100 Women Who Care About South Dundas Lori Turnbull, Janeen Wagemans, Tracey Veinotte and Deputy Mayor Kirsten Gardner.
