Other Notices

WEED SPRAYING AND NO SPRAY SIGNS
Roadside spraying in South Dundas starts May 19, 2021 and continues through June.  Spraying occurs from the edge of the gravel shoulder to within one metre of the property limits and uses selective, Government of Canada-approved herbicides to control the growth of undesirable vegetation. The contractor performing the work is fully licensed. Read the full notice here.

See where roadside spraying will occur in 2021.

If you do not want the right-of-way in front of your property to be treated :

  • You must post “NO SPRAY” signs at the start and finish of your property.
  • The “NO SPRAY” signs must be at least one foot by two feet and located three feet from the edge of the gravel shoulder. Signs must be one foot above any vegetation so that it is easy to see from the road.

Spraying will not occur if the ditch is mowed on a regular basis (maintained as a lawn).  To ensure that spraying does not occur, we recommend you install a sign regardless of how the ditch is maintained.

IROQUOIS WATERFRONT COMMITTEE MEETING
The Iroquois Waterfront Committee will be virtually, on May 6, 2021 at 7:00 pm.

NEW WASTE COLLECTION CONTRACTOR
Starting May 3, 2021 South Dundas residents will see a new (blue) truck picking up their curbside waste. The truck is a split-back, meaning one truck can collect both garbage and recycling which is separated to each side.

While the routes should stay the same, there are always chances that delays or changes need to be made due to a variety of issues. We don’t want you to miss your collection so be sure to have your waste at the curbside before 7:00am! Collection can continue until 7:00pm. Late or next day collections due to issues will be advertised on the Municipal social media channels.

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS
The water tower in Iroquois will be going offline April 19, 2021 and water service will be switching to VFD mode (variable frequency drive) to send water from Morrisburg to Iroquois. Please note water service users in the Villages may experience pressure changes in their homes, however the water quality will not be impacted. This is part of the planned rehabilitation of the water towers. For any issues or concerns about water or the water towers please call the office at 613-543-2673.

HYDRANT FLUSHING IN MORRISBURG
Hydrant flushing in the Village of Morrisburg will be starting May 3, 2021 and will continue until June 30, 2021. During this time Municipal crews will also be being completing flow testing and painting of the hydrant bonnets. For more information please contact the Municipal office.

Hydrant flushing is necessary to maintain water quality and system infrastructure. Residents may experience a drop-in water pressure and slight discoloration of water. If you have rust-coloured water, please run your cold water tap until the water clears. If you have any questions, please contact the Municipal Office.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY CANCELLED
Please note, the first Household Hazardous Waste Day of 2021 on May 15, 2021 (offered to South Dundas residents through partnership with the Township of North Dundas), will be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The next scheduled day will be June 12, 2021.
