Waterfront Trail

Man and Woman Cycling By WaterThe Waterfront Trail is designated as one of Ontario’s Trails of Distinction and extends for over 1900km, from the eastern border of Ontario all the way to Lake Huron. Part of this incredible trail follows along the waterfront of South Dundas communities, with plenty of opportunities to stop for rest, food and drink, play, or simply explore what South Dundas has to offer!

Cycle, walk, rollerblade and more along this well known and celebrated recreational trail.

Iroquois Lock

Each summer visitors and residents flock to the Iroquois Point to catch of glimpse of the enormous tankers and ships passing through the famed Iroquois Lock. With open green spaces, parking area, a canteen and, of course, incredible views, the Iroquois Lock is a must visit attraction in South Dundas.


Golf Courses

Iroquois Golf Course

Along the stunning banks of the mighty St. Lawrence River, this 18-hole golf course offers incredible vistas of the Iroquois Control Dam, and, if you’re lucky, massive ocean liners passing through toward the historic Iroquois Locks.

With holes named after historical aspects of the region, golfers to this challenging course are reminded that they walk on the grounds of the original town of Iroquois, which was moved north, building by building, to accommodate the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Upper Canada Golf Course

Designed by noted golf course architect, Robbie Robinson in the 1960s, this picturesque 18-hole course is recognized as one of the top public golf courses in Eastern and Central Ontario.

Tree-lined fairways with a variety of hazards and glimpses of stunning natural beauty and wildlife are the hallmarks of this course.

Morrisburg Golf Club

Incredible views of the St. Lawrence River from each of the nine holes is the calling card of the Morrisburg Golf Club. Established in 1939, this course is one of the oldest in the area, and noted for its impeccable greens and mature trees.

Enjoy a challenging round of 9-holes, or circle back to replay the course and extend your round to 18-holes at this challenging course in the heart of Morrisburg.

Cedar Glen Golf Course

Williamsburg’s Cedar Glen Golf Course opened in 1972 and has been welcoming golfers of all skill and experience levels ever since. This challenging 9-hole course offers a double tee arrangement that allows for 18-hole play, giving golfers a new look to each hole.

The course has matured since it’s opening into a beautiful country side course, complete with great dining and drinks on-site, providing golfers with all that is needed for a great round!

Nationview Golf Course

Established in 1994-1996, Nationview Golf Course has maintained the natural beauty of the land, as evidenced by the strategically placed clumps of pine and birch trees, and the addition of colorful flower beds with rail fences. Play is over the Nation River twice and beside it twice, with both treed and open fairways.


Beaches

Iroquois Beach

The banks of the St. Lawrence River in Iroquois is where you’ll find eager swimmers, tanners, and sand castle enthusiasts. The Iroquois Beach is well appointed for families and those looking to enjoy the sunshine. Change rooms, restrooms, sitting areas, a canteen and beach house are all ready to make your beach day the best yet!

The beach is open to the public 7-days a week, 8:00am – 8:00pm and free to use. Lifeguards are on duty July and August, 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday.

Morrisburg Beach

Located in the heart of Morrisburg, this quaint beach offers all the amenities a beach goer would need. Restrooms, change rooms, nearby picnic and play areas are all available for visitors to enjoy.

The beach is open to the public 7-days a week, 8:00am – 8:00pm and free to use. Lifeguards are on duty July and August, 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday.

Crysler Park Beach

Located adjacent to the famed Upper Canada Village, Crysler Park Beach and Picnic Area is an ideal location for a family beach day or a gathering of any kind. A beautiful sandy beach and grassy picnic areas are situated just a short stroll from the Crysler Park Marina, and a miniature train ride away from Upper Canada Village.

A variety of picnic locations are available for reservation for gatherings, as well as picnic areas open to all.


Nature Trails

Two Creeks Conservation Area

Over 4.5km of signed nature trails can be found just outside the village of Morrisburg. The trails feature excellent opportunities for hiking and observing the diverse vegetation and wide range of wildlife found in the forest.

The Two Creeks Conservation Area features nine interpretative signs along the way that will depict various points of interest within the trail and provide information on the ecosystems and wildlife species that are found in the forest.

Picnic areas and vehicle parking are available, and the trail is an excellent location for hiking, geocaching, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.

Robert Graham Conservation Area

Robert Graham Conservation Area is the ideal place to escape from it all and reconnect with nature in a quiet, relaxing environment.

This 6.5km trail is open year-round for outstanding hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and geocaching in a picturesque setting. The 140 acre forest boasts a diverse range of native tree species and a variety of wildlife, such as woodpeckers, wild turkey, deer, rabbits and much more.

Vehicle parking is available, and pets are permitted (on leash).

Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary

Over 8km of self-guided nature trails wind through the 9,000 hectares of wildlife habitat at the Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary. Visitors to this popular natural attraction have the opportunity to view over 200 bird species, as well as a variety of other wildlife, in their natural habitats.

The Bird Sanctuary is located directly on the Waterfront Trail cycle path and features washrooms, an interpretive visitor centre and gift shop, outdoor picnic areas, and more. The trails are perfect for hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing and there is a campground on-site to extend your nature-filled excursion!
