COVID-19 Update from Mayor Steven Byvelds
January 12, 2021

As we have heard from the Province of Ontario this afternoon, we are now in a State of Emergency due to wide-spread infections of the COVID-19 virus. This new measure has been made in an effort to protect the people of Ontario and we strongly encourage everyone to take this seriously.

South Dundas had previously remained relatively untouched by the virus. This is no longer the case. The health of our community is at stake and we must all do our part to protect one another.

We know how challenging this pandemic has been on your lives. We are all tired and feel the stress of the situation. We ask that you keep faith that the end of the pandemic will come. Vaccines are on their way but this will take time before we will see any impact on a mass scale. In the meantime, we will continue to listen to the advice of our health officials and follow the rules set out by the Province. It is imperative that we work together and claim responsibility for our actions in an effort to reduce the impact of the virus.

Mental health and wellness are more important than ever for our community. Find ways to stay healthy and connect using safe methods that promote physical distancing. Check in on your neighbours and friends using technology and remember that our actions during this time, can help save lives.

We thank each of you for doing your part.

Stay home, stay safe and keep faith.

Mayor Steven Byvelds
