Airport & Campground Building officially opens with tour and plaque unveiling

IROQUOIS – South Dundas Council and staff joined the community in Iroquois on August 14, 2022, to officially open the John D. Ross Airport and Campground building with a plaque unveiling and site tour.

The Municipality partnered with John Ross to fund the project which serves three main user groups as well as the South Dundas community as a whole. Located at the Iroquois Campground, the building offers a full kitchen, community area, accessible washrooms and changerooms, as well as storage.

The August 14 event welcomed residents to the building for speeches, a tour and a light lunch. The Municipality also unveiled the building’s dedication plaque with a list of contributors to the project which includes, John Ross and his late wife Diane, EVB Engineering, Wells & Sons Construction Inc., Perry Stacey, Ron Beaupre, Gordon Empey and Dr. Henry Prins.

“This building is a great step forward in updating the infrastructure and facilities in the Municipality. It’s a great space that will serve the South Dundas community well for many years to come,” said Mayor Steven Byvelds. “The Municipality would like to thank the contributors to this project, and we look forward to seeing the building being used and accessible to everyone.”
