Burn Ban in Effect

UPDATE: Effective April 21, 2023, the Burn Ban across South Dundas has been lifted.

A Burn Permit is required for all types of burns (recreational, open air, and agricultural).

For recreational burns, residents must call 1-855-956-0650 to activate their Burn Permit using the phone number listed on the permit. Permit activation will last for 24 hours. Burning is only permitted between 5 pm and midnight.

For open air and agricultural burns, residents must call our office to activate their Burn Permit. Once activated, residents must wait 24 hours to begin burning.

For more information, call our Municipal Office at 613-543-2673.

April 11, 2023: After consulting with South Dundas Fire & Emergency Services, the Municipality is under a Burn Ban, effective IMMEDIATELY.

This Burn Ban has been implemented due to impending warm weather and dry conditions. A notice will be made when the Burn Ban has been lifted.

We understand that residents are looking to clean their properties following last week's storm. The Matilda Landfill accepts two complimentary 60-liter cans of wood, branches, and twigs (with a maximum branch diameter of up to six inches) per day. Any extra yard waste can be taken in for $10 a day per load with a receipt.

The Matilda Landfill is open Tuesday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed Sunday and Monday.
