Enbridge has partnered with South Dundas Fire & Emergency Services to improve home safety and reduce fire and carbon monoxide-related deaths through Safe Community Project Zero!
SDFES has received 144 combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms that will be distributed. This year, Enbridge Gas invested $450,000 in Safe Community Project Zero, and over the past 16 years, the program has provided more than 101,000 alarms to Ontario fire departments.
When properly installed and maintained, combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms help provide the early warning to safely escape from a house fire or carbon monoxide exposure. Carbon monoxide is a toxic, odourless gas that is a by-product of incomplete combustion of many types of common fuels.
Mayor Broad shared:
"We are proud to partner with Enbridge Gas to make it possible that homes in our community are equipped with the life-saving protection of smoke and gas alarms. This generous donation will help keep families safe and prevent tragedies as we continue to work together with our Fire & Emergency Services team to make our community a safer place for all."
